One of the most beautiful Renaissance châteaux
Located a few kilometres from Blois in the Sologne region, the Château de Chambord is one of the jewels of Renaissance architecture. Dreamt up by François 1st, construction of the château began in 1519. The building as we see it today was completed under Louis XIV, in 1685.
An Italian-inspired architectural creation
The Château de Chambord stands out for its exceptional architecture, influenced by the work of Leonardo da Vinci. Its plan is centred around the keep, flanked by four corner towers. The centrepiece of the château is famous for its double spiral staircase. This remarkable staircase is made up of twin spiral banisters that wind around each other. It is topped by the castle's tallest tower, the lantern tower, and serves the main floors of the building. The Château de Chambord and its 2,500-hectare park have been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1981.
