The House of Magic

Discover the town of Blois

Located next to Blois Castle, the Maison Robert-Houdin has been France's only public museum dedicated to magic for over 20 years: prestidigitation, escamotage, illusions and more.

Discover the magic arts

An area of 2,000 m2 spread over five levels plunges visitors into the magical world of magic through a series of original exhibitions. Automatons, optical illusions, oriental magic, close-ups and Gérard Majax's hallucinoscope are all on show throughout the House.

The 6-headed dragon will greet you every hour by animating the façade of the building, a wonderful sight for children.

A permanent live show

Attend the magic shows and events organised by the Maison de la Magie throughout the year. Take part in workshops to create works of magic, unusual events and have fun solving the riddles in the "Chronotrône" escape game.

The magician Robert-Houdin

The exact name of the magic museum in Blois is Maison de la Magie Robert-Houdin. Robert Houdin is considered by many (Orson Welles, David Copperfield) to be the master of modern magic.

This museum (labelled a Musée de France) was created by the town of Blois and housed in a historic building near the château called the Maison Massé. The aims of the Maison de la Magie are to showcase the town's magical heritage and encourage exchange and research into magic.
